As we approach half term, it is hard to believe that we are already nearly 7 weeks into the third lockdown. We have remained open to all children and families during this period and, whilst numbers are much lower than normal, we are still able to be there for keyworker
families and for those who feel confident to send their children to the setting. Our enhanced cleaning, together with a robust risk assessment, continue to ensure, as much as is possible, the safety of the children, the team, their families and the wider community.
The children who have been attending have proven how resilient young children are. They have settled readily back into the slightly altered routines and surroundings of the Preschool and are learning, developing and having as much fun as they always have during their time with us. This final week of the first team has presented us with the additional challenge of the snowy, cold and icy weather. Amazingly, and with much appreciation from the Management Team, our lovely team of Early Years Educators have made it in each day and provided fun and stimulating activities for the children. Obviously, the weather has featured big this week. There is something very special about seeing children’s enjoyment of the snow; for some their very first experience. It is truly magical to see their faces light up when they are playing outside. A child’s wonder at a perfect snowflake is really special and we never forget how privileged we are to be able to share those special moments with the children in our care.
Our next article will probably be looking forward to warmer weather and the prospect of planting in our garden but, for now, we will live in the moment – as young children do – and enjoy the magic of the season.
