The Anthony Roper Pre-School and Kindergarten opened in February 2011, replacing the former Eynsford Village Pre-School (established approximately 50 years ago) and Anthony Roper Kindergarten (established approximately 30 years ago).
Having been awarded a Sure Start Grant from Kent County Council in March 2010, we are lucky to have a beautifully designed, purpose built building with excellent facilities and beautiful outside spaces.
Outdoor play is an important part of our daily routine and all of our children have free flow access to our two gardens for large portions of the day. Our wonderful staff are weather resistant and the children are encouraged outside whatever the weather! Particular favourites with the children are our large wooden pirate ship, complete with telescope and ship’s wheel and our well-stocked mud kitchen!
We encourage exploration and independence through play by introducing a wide variety of resources and activities. For example, allowing our children to explore a range of tools in our “Investigation Station”.
Although we are not part of the Anthony Roper Primary School, sharing the same grounds provides continuity for many of our children from the age of 2 through to the age of 11. It also allows us to benefit from some of the lovely school facilities, such as the playing fields, assault course, woodland area and allotment plot.
Staff have a good understanding of how children learn. They plan interesting activities for children’s learning based on precise observations and assessments of their individual interests.
