Making and posting Christmas cards

Over the last couple of weeks the children have been making Christmas cards. We do not believe in production-line crafts. We provide the resources for the children to make their own interpretation of a Christmas card and talk to them about why we send Christmas cards and how it is lovely to receive them. Once they had all been made, they have been going in small groups on a walk up to the postbox to post them home. They have learnt that the envelope needs a name and address and a stamp to pay for the post to be delivered. We can’t wait for you to receive your cards – if you can send a photo of your child receiving their card home, that would be lovely. Photos can be forwarded to office@anthonyropernursery.co.uk.

Christmas Concert

The children finally got to perform before friends and family this Wednesday. It was a bright and crisp winter’s day and the children did fantastically well to stand in front of such big crowds and sing and do the actions to the songs we have been practicing. We are very proud of how well they coped in this unfamiliar situation. The visit to Father Christmas was another highlight, with some memorable gifts being requested – one child asked for a ‘unicorn’, another for a ‘popcorn maker and a pigeon’. Highly original. We look forward to hearing about what they received when they return after the Christmas festivities.
