This week’s activities
Queen’s Platinum Jubliee Celebrations
We have been talking to the children about the forthcoming celebrations. The children have explored images of the Queen through her 70 year reign, they have looked at photos of the Queen and her family. They have been involved in creating bunting, flags, crowns, etc, through different media including craft, playdough and biscuit making. They have also been learning the National Anthem and listening to some songs from during the early part of Her Majesty’s reign. They have even been practicing a royal wave! We are helping the children understand that this is an historic event, unlikely to be seen again in our lifetimes and possibly their own. They are learning that they are part of a wider community and that we come together for special events – you may be having a street party, BBQ, attending a village event or doing nothing at all, but the children will be a part of whatever you decide to do and the date will be a part of their shared history with the rest of the country.
We hope you all have a wonderful half term and enjoy the Platinum Jubliee celebrations. Please note that the Pre-school re-opens on Tuesday 7th June (Monday 6th June being a staff INSET day).
