This week at pre-school the children have been exploring different ways to transport water. Through our play and discussions, we talked about where water comes from and how we usually get it easily from a tap in our homes. 🚰

We also learned that in some places around the world people don’t always have water close by. Sometimes families need to collect water from wells, rivers, pumps or tanks and carry it home using buckets, containers, bottles or carts. 🪣💦

In our outdoor area the children experimented with different ways to move water using buckets, jugs, pipes, funnels and wheelbarrows. They discovered that water can be heavy to carry and worked together to transport it from one place to another. 🤝

This activity supports the EYFS area of learning: Understanding the World, helping children learn about people, communities and the environment around them while developing problem solving, teamwork and curiosity.

🌧️☁️ Our Water Learning Continued! ☁️🌧️

This week, alongside our water walk, the children explored how clouds work by creating their very own!

Using shaving foam as our “clouds” and coloured water as “rain,” the children carefully dropped water onto the clouds and watched what happened…

💧 At first, the clouds held the water💧 Then, as they became full, the “rain” began to fall through!

This fun, hands-on activity helped the children understand how real clouds hold water and release it as rain 🌈

Such a simple but exciting way to explore the world around us!
