We just can’t believe how fast this term has gone. The children have just taken part in the Anthony Roper Primary School Sports Day. Children from two to four years old take part in an egg and spoon race and a running race. Those children who are making the transition to ‘big school’ then take part in a ‘shopping race’. We currently have 67 families attending the Pre-school and, whilst some children were not at Sports Day, the majority were. It is thanks to our fantastic team of Early Years Educators and a couple of lovely volunteers from our Committee, that we are able to take part in this event. Well done to the children and team!
Many of our children are making the transition to ‘big school’ in September. School readiness is something that we are often asked about. Many people feel that school readiness is about being able to count to 10, write your name and know your colours. School readiness is in fact about so much more. Children need to have a ‘can do’ attitude, to have developed resilience when things don’t go their way, to be able to share and take turns, to maintain a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around them, by having access to real life, hands-on experiences. These are the attributes we support our children to develop as they move forwards on their journey to school. We will miss them all and want to wish them and their families the very best for their future lives in school and beyond.
