Sports Day and Teddy Bears Picnic

Dear Families

We are really pleased to be able to announce a return to two annual events that we haven’t been able to hold in the last two years. Details below:

Sports Day – Tuesday 12th July at 9.00am (drop-off)

The Anthony Roper Primary School will be running their Sports Day on the 12th July (with a reserve date of 14th July). Traditionally, we have held our Sports Day on the same day, with our races being the first ones to take place in the morning. All children are invited (whether it is their day to attend Pre-school or not). All children must therefore be dropped off at the Pre-school at 9.00am (no late comers please). You should then make your way over to the far School field, where you can wait to view the races – please do not go anywhere but the designated parents’ area. We will walk the children over to the field for a 9.15am start. The races should take around half an hour.

As you can imagine, this is a logistical challenge with such young children, so there are a few ground rules we ask that you follow:

Please do not drop your children any later than 9.00am.
We will shortly send out a coloured t-shirt list, stating the colour of t-shirt we should like your child to wear on the day – this is so we can put them into groups and organise staff to look after them.
Once you have dropped your child off, please go straight to the designated area.
Do not call out to your child/dren as they walk over to the race track – this can cause upset or distraction when we are making sure that the children get to the event safely.
If your child becomes upset and we are unable to settle them, we will bring them to you.
Following the races, we will walk all of the children back to Pre-school (unless you have already taken them if they were upset).
Please do not try and take them at this point, as we will need to do a headcount back at the Pre-school.
If your child is not due to be in on this date, please walk back to the main door to Pre-school where you can collect them.

We will assume your child is taking part unless you tell us otherwise. As we need to organise groups, please can you let us know if they won’t be attending by Tuesday 28th June at the latest.

Teddy Bears Picnic – Monday 18th July at 1.30pm

We will be holding a Teddy Bears Picnic on Monday 18th July at 1.30pm on the Primary School Field (an area will be designated for our use). We should like to invite all parents and children to come along and share in a picnic with us on this day. It will be an opportunity for everyone in the Pre-school community to come together and socialise and say goodbye to those children and families who will not be returning in September.

If your child attends on that day, you are able to meet us at the field once we have walked over with the children. If you are unable to attend and your child is in on that day, the team will continue to care for them.
