We place a lot of emphasis on our children being able to access the outdoor environment. We have three gardens; Robin Garden, Wren Garden and our Allotment Garden (at the front of the building). The children explore these environments on a daily basis. Part of our teaching is around the natural world and, in particular, the creatures and habitats that exist right on our doorstep. In Wren Garden we have a bug hotel, bird boxes, a bird bath and lots of trees and wild plants; all of which encourage the local wildlife to visit our garden.

Just before the end of the summer term, we were visited by a representative of Wild About Gardens who talked to us about the things we have already done and how we can build on them moving forwards. We have just been advised that we are to receive a Bronze Award for our efforts, which will be presented at the above event. This is a Kent-wide initiative and we are really pleased that we have been recognised.
