This Week in Preschool: “All About Me – Self Portraits!”
This week, our preschoolers have been exploring the wonderful topic of “Ourselves.” During our self-portrait activity, children looked carefully in mirrors to notice the special details that make them unique — the colour of their eyes, the shape of their faces, their hair, and their big, beautiful smiles!
As they drew and painted their self-portraits, we talked about how we are all different in many ways, but also share many things in common. Some children noticed they had the same hair colour as a friend, while others pointed out differences in height, eye colour, or favourite colours.
This activity helped the children:
-
Build self-awareness and confidence
-
Develop observation and fine motor skills
-
Celebrate diversity and individuality
-
Learn to appreciate both similarities and differences among friends
Be sure to check out our self-portrait display photos on our Facebook page and Website — it’s a beautiful reminder that every child is special and part of our preschool family!
