Pumpkin activities
We have been having a smashing good time learning with pumpkins this week. Pumpkins are popping up everywhere in our classroom, and the children are exploring them in fun and creative ways!
Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Pumpkin Science
We explored the inside of a pumpkin, counted seeds, and talked about how pumpkins grow. Some children decided pumpkins feel “squishy,” others said “slimy,” and everyone agreed they are super interesting! we have kept the seeds to plant. We made Pumpkin Soup!

The children are very excited to be making pumpkin soup together! The children explored pumpkins using their senses — looking, touching, smelling, and even tasting!
We have been:
-
Scooping and mashing soft pumpkin pieces
-
Adding ingredients into the pot together
-
Talking about textures, colours and smells
-
Taking turns stirring the soup safely
-
Enjoying a warm tasting session at the end!
-
Creative Crafts
Little hands have been busy! We painted pumpkins, made silly pumpkin faces, and used shapes to build our own pumpkin patch art.
Learning Through Play
We sorted tiny pumpkins by size, matched shapes and colors, and practiced counting with our pumpkin pals. pictures can be found on our Facebook page
