                            People Who Help Us

Dear Families,

This week in preschool we have been learning all about the important people in our community who help us every day! The children have been very curious and excited to explore the different roles and responsibilities of helpers around us.

Police Officers – We talked about how police officers keep us safe and help us when we are lost or in trouble. The children enjoyed role-playing, matching games and small world play.

‍⚕️ Doctors & Nurses – We learned that doctors and nurses take care of us when we are sick and help us feel better. Our little ones enjoyed pretending to be doctors with stethoscopes and bandages in the home corner.

Firefighters – We discussed how firefighters are brave helpers who put out fires and rescue people. The children loved pretending to climb ladders made from masking tape on the floor, spray bottles to put out chalk fires, and make fire engines from recycled materials.

Teachers & Librarians – We shared how teachers and librarians help us learn and discover new stories. The children enjoyed listening to special “helper” themed storybooks.

️ Other Helpers – We also talked about mechanics one saying they fix your flat tyres, shopkeepers, postal workers, Dentists and more—learning that helpers are everywhere in our community!

Activities this week included:
✨ Dressing up as different community helpers
✨ Games and puzzles
✨ modelling using recycled materials
✨ Singing songs about helpers and safety

How you can support at home:

  • Talk with your child about helpers you meet each day (delivery driver, bus driver, cashier, etc.).

  • Read storybooks about community helpers together.

  • Encourage role-play at home (e.g., doctor, firefighter, shopkeeper).

We are so proud of how  thoughtful the children have been while learning about the people who make our community safe, healthy, and happy!

Warm regards,
