Arrangements for Sports Day on Wednesday 12th July (reserve date is Thursday 13th July)
Dear Families
We should like to share the arrangements for the Sports Day event that we take part in on the same day as the Anthony Roper Primary School. We are always the first to race, as we are completely separate to the School, so any arrangements that you have made with the Primary School are not relevant to the arrangements here.
All children are invited to take part in the event, even if it is not their usual session.
Please see below as to how the event should run.
Please see the sheet which tells you which colour t-shirt we should like your child to wear on parent mail. It is important that they arrive in this t-shirt. This is to help with our organisation and management of the event. Please also ensure they have suncream applied and are wearing a sunhat. Don’t forget they need to be able to run in whatever footwear they arrive in too.
As the School have requested that we complete our races by 9.30am at the latest, we should be grateful if you would drop your child/ren at the Pre-school earlier than usual at 8.45am. Please drop them to their usual room where they will be greeted and a register taken. If your child is staying for lunch at the Pre-school, please drop this off as usual.
Once you have dropped-off your child/ren, please make your way to the School field and wait in the area designated for families to watch.
Just before 9.00am we will walk the children over to the School field. Please do not come over to the children or call out to them. This can be very distracting and can cause some children to become confused and upset when we then tell them that they can’t go to you.
We will be sitting the children in their colour groups and the team know which children they are responsible for. If your child becomes upset and we are unable to comfort them, a member of the team will bring them to you.
The races are roughly split into age groups/size, so the oldest children will run first and the youngest last. There are two races for all children – a running race, followed by an egg and spoon race. There is one additional race for those children who will be leaving to go to school.
Once we have finished the races, the team will escort the children back to the Pre-school building. Again, please don’t come over to your child/ren or call out to them. We need to get them safely back to the building to do a register and headcount.
If your child is not usually in on the day, please come to the building to collect them from the main entrance (reception).
If your child is usually in, we will take care of them as usual until lunchtime pick-up or 3.00pm pick-up.
Some of you may have older children in the Primary School and you may wish to spend time with them and your child from the Pre-school sharing lunch. We are happy for you to collect your child at midday but please bear in mind that they will not be able to return to us after lunch as this is too disruptive. Please let us know in advance if this is something you want to do.
As with any event, we appreciate that you will want to take photos/videos, however, please do not share them on social media if other children are in them, unless you have gained the permission of their parents.
We hope that covers everything, but if you have any questions, please let us know.
Sam and Donna
